Okay, so Nasir has to come over to my place to pick up his headphones, so I play him this thing he thinks is cool. "Oh, that's Portishead" he exclaims with dull recognition. He may not be thrilled, but I find this album to have that plushness that I've been looking for in an album. A few sorta progressive love ballads here and there, but mostly slow and Jazzy beats with an offhanded tweak on every other bar. Sluggish but methodical, good music for dinner or sitting around in general. Try not to take it too seriously. It's an import, by god, so you'll find it lying in the usual cracks in the wall.
