The Serpent (in Quicksilver) / Abandoned Cities
This is a re-issue of two separate albums released back in the early 80's. From what I've read in the liner notes, these seem to be the albums where mr. Budd first ventured into his difinitive realm of effected piano. His genius, along with some lovely pedal steel guitar, make for some truly lonely, soothing suspensions. Dark Star and Abandonned Cities are both 20-minute pieces, perfect for extended durations of absolutely nothing. I have that pair on vinyl, but I'll gladly trade the warmth of analog for the permanance of digital. As obtainable as his other albums, this shouldn't be hard to find.
